the present climate of increasingly complex healthcare,
the fact that after 20 years, the Mad River Valley
Health Center remains a local, not for profit, healthcare
facility is testament of our community’s resolve.

The
Mission of the Mad River Valley Health Center is
to provide a quality facility to ensure the availability
of local health care to residents of the Mad River
Valley, neighboring communities and visitors

History
|
- The Mad River Health Center, Inc. is a non
profit corporation dedicated to providing a facilty
to provide health services to the community,
its neighbors and visitors.
- The corporation was formed in 1981 when the
local physician at the time decided to leave
the valley and was unable to find a private physician
to purchase his practice and the property.
- A group of over 150 volunteer community members
and businesses raised funds to purchase the practice
in two months.
- This effort made it possible for MRVHC to establish
a clinic to provide care for the entire family.

Today
|
In the mid eighties, Dr. Francis Cook
purchased the medical practice from MRVHC, Inc and
continues to lease the health center space from the
organization today. |
Future
|
- The Health Center, over its 20-year history,
has served an estimated 70 to 80 percent of the
population of the Mad River Valley.
- Its location is central to the Valley community
and the medical practice has had a positive influence
on our health status.
- The growth of the community has placed demands
on the current facility that have outpaced it
space and functionality.
- In order to continue to serve the health needs
of the Valley and our visitors, the Board has
embarked on a Capital
Campaign to construct a larger, more accessible
and functional building on the existing site

The
Mad River Valley Community prides itself on an
unsurpassed quality of life; the new Health Center
will aid in insuring that our community continues
to enjoy good health, dependable health care and
an up to date medical facility for the entire family.
The presence of the practice at the Mad River
Valley Health Center has had a positive influence on
the health status of our community. |
