Vermont-Specific Health Information


Dartmouth Hitchcock Alliance Health Encyclopedia - This website includes a search tool, care guides, surgery and procedure information, as well as contact information for area Dartmouth Hitchcock Alliance health care providers.

Consumer Health: UVM Dana Medical Library (www.library.uvm.edu/dana/guides/resources/consumerhealth.html) - This comprehensive site provides a directory of Vermont health care providers, facilities and services as well as links for researching diseases and finding published articles, plus a link to view Vermont Cancer Center informational videos on your computer.


Preventative Health


Your Disease Risk (www.yourdiseaserisk.com) - The Harvard Center for Cancer Prevention’s website offers preventative health information and risk assessment tools for cancer, heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis and stroke.

Alternative/Holistic Health


National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM)- The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (www.nccam.nih.gov) website has complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) information and a search tool, plus info on research, clinical trials, and selecting a CAM provider.


The Alternative Medicine Homepage (www.pitt.edu/~cbw/altm.html) provides links to resources on alternative and complementary health therapies.

Dr. Weil (www.drweil.com/drw/ecs/index.html) offers featured articles on healthy aging, nutrition, wellness, etc., plus questions and answers, reader forums, and more on a range of health topics.

The National Women's Health Information Center (NWHIC) website (www.4women.gov) provides information on over 800 different health topics important to women as well as hundreds of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) fact sheets.


Our Bodies Ourselves - Information on Women's Health & Sexuality(www.ourbodiesourselves.org/), the companion website to the classic book, Our Bodies Ourselves, includes book excerpts, unique health content, links, resources, and health news for women.

NIH Senior Health Information for Older Adults (www.nihseniorhealth.gov) offers a range of health topics and tools specifically for older adults.

Go Ask Alice! - Columbia University's Health Q&A Internet Service (www.goaskalice.columbia.edu/) is designed for teens and young adults and addresses such topics as alcohol and drugs, fitness and nutrition, emotional health and relationships, sexuality, and sexual health.
